We welcome learners from the age of 4 years. The medium of instruction is English. Students are encouraged to engage in a variety of activities such as sports, music, drama, and adventure, all while being guided by our dedicated educators who lead by example.

Christian values play a significant role in our school community. Agape love is central to our ethos, supported by strict anti-bullying practices. Afrikaans is introduced as a second language and thoroughly explored. We take pride in our learners' ability to adapt to and embrace different cultures. School trips and excursions are integral to our annual program, providing students with a broader learning experience. Our learners also participate in activities such as Debate, Spelling Bee, various sports (including KFC mini cricket), and Bible Quiz, among other offerings in our program.

Our primary medium of instruction is English, while Afrikaans or Sepedi is offered as a first additional language.

From Grade 10 to Grade 12, students are required to attend Saturday classes, and holiday schooling is mandatory for Grade 12 learners.

HD Library is registered with the Department of Arts, Sports and Culture and is a vibrant and inclusive space that fosters a love of reading, learning and exploration.  Our Library is designed to provide learners with a wide range of resources, including books, journals, databases and digital media.

Our Library opens from 09h00 to 16h00 9Monday - Friday) learners and the staff are welcome to visit the library during these times.

English is the Institutions main medium of instruction.  Afrikaans is introduced as a First Additional language in Primary School.  From Gr 8 learners have the option to choose between Sepedi and Afrikaans as a First Additional language.  Debates, spelling bee and Quess's is mediums used to encourage our learners in exploring the different languages.  Every year we have students competing in events organized by the DBE with excellent results.

Boarding Facilities

Our Bording facility provides a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for boys and girls from Grade R to 12.  We offer a unique boarding experience that fosters academic excellence, personal growth and social responsibility.

Our approach to boarding is holistic, focusing on the development of the whole child - academically, emotionally, physically and socially.  We strive to create a warm welcoming and inclusive community that feels like a home away from home.

The hostel is designed to provide a comfortable and secure living environment with separate sections for boys and girls as well as separate areas for high and primary learners.  Our team of dedicated mothers and educators provide care and support to our learners, including assistance with evening studies.

As part of our boarding program learners in Grade 8 and above are encouraged to take responsibility for their own laundry.

At Happy Day Combined School, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom.  our excursion program is designed to provide learners with hands-on, real-world experiences that enhance their academic learning and promote personal growth.

Our Excursion program includes a range of activities and trips such as:

*Educational field trips to museums, historical sites and other places of interest.

*Outdoor adventures such as camping and team building activities

* Cultural exchanges and performances, such as concert and plays.

We understand the vital role music and drama play in delivering a well-rounded education. Our music and drama program is thoughtfully crafted to nurture creativity, self-expression, and confidence in our learners.

From an early age, we encourage our students to explore their artistic talents, helping them step out of their comfort zones through diverse music and drama activities. This approach not only cultivates a lifelong appreciation for the arts but also develops essential skills in creativity, communication, and self-expression.
